Who was Joe Kane ?

The Joe Kane Memorial Library

The late Joe Kane was a board member from way back, a raconteur, journalist, and man of letters who passed away at the age of 84.  He donated his library of Churchill books and other historic works to our chapter.  Jan Slimming has kindly organized the library and it can be accessed at:  https://www.libib.com/u/wcsga

In this photo with Battle of Britain veteran RAF Flight Lt.  Denis Payne (L),

Joe Kane is in full journalist mode, with reporters note pad in hand.

Joe was a graduate of Georgetown University.  He was retired from Time-Warner and was their last bureau chief in Atlanta.  He interviewed folks from President Carter to Jane Fonda and all sorts in between.. He also was Pentagon correspondent during the fall of Saigon. He was a great friend and helped organize many events over the years.  We miss his quick wit, ready laugh, and booming voice.  Joe was responsible for our connection with best-selling author Lynne Olson and her husband Stanley Cloud, both of whom graced us with several presentations - see Past Events
